Shortly after our book was published in 2004, a group of trail drivers started from Bandera, Texas, on September 6 to start a 48-day ride to Dodge City, Kansas.  Horse riders, cowboys, wagoneers all joined together to commenmorate the historic significance of the Western Trail.  Here we pause at a friend's house before the big event.  The route of the trail drive followed Gary's maps.  The next trail drive is scheduled for Labor Day, 2009; this time starting from Dodge City, going south.
